Ammonia, a highly soluble gas in water is a challenge to determine.
A naturally occurring toxic element for all living species also is
highly corrosive in nature. The presence of ammonia is heavily
dependent on its pH value. In the acidic range, there is a
predominance of ammonium (NH4 +) ions that are not detected by
the sensor.
